¡Bienvenidos a la clase de español!

What to Expect

I believe it is important for my students to learn how to communicate in Spanish. Spanish is taught through a comprehensible input philosophy rather than standard grammar based textbook Spanish.  Spanish classes focus on repetition through activities such as movie talks, TPRS (Teaching Proficiency through Reading & Storytelling), picture talks, listen and draw, TPR (Total Physical Response), music and games. My professional goal is to combine my love for language with my passion for teaching; I aim to motivate and instill a love of learning, language, and culture in each of my students.

Meet Ms. Señora Meyer

This is my twelfth year at the Quogue School, teaching both Spanish and ENL. Before coming to Quogue, I taught middle school and high school Spanish for three years in Nassau County. I received my B.A. in Spanish and secondary education from St. Joseph’s College and my Spanish FLES extension from Dowling College. I completed my M.S. at St. John’s University in Teaching English to Speakers of Other Languages (TESOL).

I love spending my free time with my family.  Additionally, I can often be found gardening, cooking, reading and doing all types of arts and crafts.
